I made it :)

I just got here and I can't believe I am actually here. What to start with...hmmm well the flight was really long and I didn't sleep one minute but I met this really nice guy that sat next to me. His name was Michael and he had already been to Barcelona, but it was over 30 years ago. He was coming again with his partner and their 2 friends.

One thing I learned on the plane is that in spain, gay marriage is legal. He was really nice and I think this journey I am on, I need to really treasure the small things and the people I meet. I think that everything that happens is for a reason and I need to remember that especially out here!

So once I finally arrived, the heat took over! It felt 3 times worse than the heat when getting off the plane to Hawaii. We got checked in with the program and got all the information needed for school tomorrow. We got into a taxi and we were on our way!!

The ride was only supposed to take 20 minutes but it ended up being closer to 40 because he got lost and couldn't get to our homestay. This is because the streets are cut in half and you can only drive so far on them. Not to mention they are only one car width. It is a really tight squeeze :) But he only charged up the min. because it was not our fault. So it was 30 euros.

We rang the door bell and down came Harman (Our host dad) then we said hello...well melinda did most of the talking since I am not great with Spanish and we came up to our place.

The apartment is small and cute! We got all unpacked right away. I never realized how spoiled I was with my space and the size of my room until now. Melinda and I are sharing a room that is small. But we are making it work! There is a cute pool of the roof as well as a terrace with lounge chairs with a view of  the city. Maria Dolores (Our host mom) made sure we ate right away. She made en salada, el pollo y fruita. They are very warm and welcoming.

Sorry it's so long...just wanted to give everyone a heads up that I was safe and sound here in Barcelona....Ill keep you updated as much as I can...Off to site see :)
